The healthy eating page will guide you on your food choices. There are a multitude of different “diets” out there. But at the end of the day, when you stop your diet, and return to your old eating habits, your body returns to its old shape!
These tips are here to help make a sustainable change to your eating habits. Healthy eating is not about fewer calories, it about fueling the body appropriately so it can carry out all if it’s functions.
Tips
- Follow the eating guidelines from the healthy food pyramid – it will ensure you get all the nutrients and energy you need
- Eat 5-6 small balanced meals each day. It will give you sustained energy and reduce your cravings for treat foods
- Increase your water intake. It will nourish your body; make your skin feel better and reduce hunger by making you feel full. Go for 6-8 glasses per day
- Purchase fresh foods and avoid processed and convenient foods, such as fast food
- Check out food labels and look for foods with less than 10g fat/100g
- Carbohydrate levels are important to, so go for foods with less than 15g
- Carbohydrate/100gm. But note foods with fruit added (some breakfast cereals) will have higher levels of carbohydrate and that is ok.
